After almost 30 years of creating Memories For A Lifetime for thousands of demanding travelers, Quasar Expeditions knows exactly what it takes to accomplish this: lots of meticulous planning combined with whimsical spontaneity.

However, this not only applies to the wonderful experiences, gastronomy, activities, and involvement of experiences staff. This also applies to how we actually prepare day in and day out, every year, behind the scenes, to make sure all goes safely, smoothly and very comfortably and 2015 is not an exception.

This year, for the months of October through December, a lot of planning ahead, and some whimsical spontaneity, are going to coalesce into extensive refurbishes and even overhauls on both of our signature Galapagos yachts, the M/V Evolution and M/Y Grace. Here’s an inside preview of the big changes that are coming:


Quasar's Yachts Dry Dock Periods:

October 10 – November 21

M/V EVOLUTION:

Nov 7 – December 19

The MV Evolution, The Hospitality Features:

Some whimsy and some heavy planning

  • Complete change of flooring in cabins and social areas.
  • New paint in all cabins.
  • New wallpaper in the bathrooms.
  • Wallpaper will be placed in the social areas and halls.
  • Maintenance, polish and lacquer of cabin furniture.
  • Maintenance of showers.
  • New upholstery in all the yacht’s furniture.
  • Brand new bar, and new bar set-up.
  • Brand new chairs for out-door (Al Fresco) dining.
  • New AC system in the yacht’s social areas.
  • New design and look for the yacht’s reception area.
  • New placement of the coffee station, now will be in the reception area.

The MV Evolution, Behind The Scenes, and Under The Floorboards:

Pretty Much All Out Long-Time Planning!

  • Total cleaning and painting of the hull.
  • Maintenance of engines and generators.
  • Cleaning (water-fuel) tanks.
  • Replacing stainless steel water tank (used for passengers: showers, sinks).
  • Total refurbishing of decoration: walls, floors.
  • Improvement of bathrooms.
  • Re-decorate cabins.
  • Re-decorate social areas.

  • New upholstery in all the yacht’s furniture.
  • Maintenance, polish and lacquer of cabin furniture.
  • New bar end-tables.
  • Complete refurb of the bar.
  • Maintenance of showers.
  • Maintenance of all indoor extraction equipment.
  • Maintenance, polish and lacquer of hot tub.
  • Maintenance and refurbish of bathroom furniture.
  • Replacement of all indoor curtains.
  • Change and improvement of Al-fresco dining weather protection curtain system.

The MY Grace, The Overhaul:

Yup, Ridiculous Amounts Of Planning

  • Maintenance and re-painting of the hull.
  • Change of engines.
  • Change of generators.
  • Change of propulsion system.
  • Cleaning of water and fuel tanks.
  • Improvement of the outside bar.
  • Change of upholstery (throughout the yacht).
  • Improving head rests for cabins that can be turned into twin or double (A2-A2-C3-C4).
  • Insulating noise in deck C.
  • Improvement of the hot tub area.
