The film will open the upcoming 2014 Cannes Film Festival, despite U.S. distributor Harvey Wenstein's statements that he does not feel it's quite ready. Audiences will ultimately be the judge of the highly-anticipated film, which opens abroad on May 14 and in American theaters on June 5.
Production of "Grace of Monaco" took place in France and Italy as well as Monaco's main square. Screen star Nicole Kidman indicated that the movie was a character study, stating that it would showcase a part of her life revealing her "great humanity, as well as fears and weaknesses."
The plot of the film centers around former Hollywood star Grace Kelly's marriage and identity crisis during a dispute in 1962 between Prince Rainier III of Monaco and France's Charles de Gaullein.
