Kayaking in Rio De Las Vueltas

The turquoise water of Rio de las Vueltas makes numerous turns through lush Antarctic Beech Tree forests and vertical rock walls as it descends into Lake Viedma. Bringing water from the region’s glaciers, including those high up on Mt Fitz Roy, the river offers us unique views of the mountain and its surrounding needles, incomparable to any view from a trail. Our kayaking day begins with a paddling practice, a review of safety techniques, and an opportunity to ask your guide any questions before we begin our descent down the river. The 20-mile stretch of pristine river we traverse will provide you with a breathtaking and unique experience of Chalten unlike any other, and an adrenaline rush which is certain to ignite your sense of adventure. This activity is best suited for travelers in good fitness, but previous kayaking experience is not required. Beginners and experienced kayakers alike will enjoy this adventure.

Important: The kayaks of this excursion are sit-on-top kayaks. We recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes to use with the neoprene socks. Activity includes full neoprene-suits, gloves, boots and personal safety gear (life vest and helmet).
