Not only can you walk in front of Perito Moreno on the boardwalks, you can also walk ON the glacier! This ‘mini trek’ option is considered a moderate activity as it requires sure-footedness, but it is not considered a physically demanding activity and it requires no previous ice-trekking experience. The actual hike takes you on a 1½-hour excursion atop the glacier, although the entire experience from start to finish can take up to 4 or 5 hours. During this excursion, you receive a full briefing before being fitted with your equipment, including crampons, before setting out by boat to the start of the trek. After the trek, you will have time to enjoy lunch in the comfort of a warm refuge and once again be picked up by boat and returned to your vehicle. This is the recommended option as it gives you the unique experience of being out on the glacier where you will observe amazing ice sculptures and breathtakingly unique scenery.
