Kayaking Down La Leona River

This full day kayaking excursion departs in the morning from the town of El Calafate for a drive to our starting point at La Leona River. Upon arrival you will receive your kayaking equipment (wetsuit, neoprene boots, cockpit covers, semi-dry jacket, life jacket, helmet and mittens). Our guides will go through an in-depth safety briefing and you will learn techniques on how best to paddle down la Leona river. Once prepared and briefed, our first kayak ride down river takes approximately 1 hour, with beautiful scenery, lovely views and some rapids, which your guides will take you through, always caring for you safety. Then we will stop for lunch and take a short hike to the Cerro Hornos viewpoint to admire an ancient petrified beech tree forest, while being treated to majestic views of the turquoise glacial waters below. After enjoying our box lunch and the spectacular views, we’ll continue our kayak adventure down La Leona river towards El Turbio stream paddling along one of the most stunning Patagonian steppe rivers for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival at our end destination a transfer awaits to take us back to El Calafate.

Note: Completion of a kayaking form will be required upon confirmation of excursion. This activity is subject to weather conditions and may be can- celled due to bad weather. In such instances, we will help you plan a repla- cement activity while in Patagonia.
