Galapagos Islands
Trip Insurance

Leading travel advisors including the UK Foreign Office recommend that "You should purchase comprehensive medical and travel insurance coverage before you travel. It is advisable to include coverage for unexpected losses such as cancelled flights, stolen cash, cards, passport or luggage." It sometimes seems preordained that the traveler who fails to purchase trip cancellation insurance is the one who has to cancel their trip at the last moment.

We strongly urge you to purchase Galapagos travel insurance.

A good insurance policy will include:

  • Trip & flight cancellation and interruption coverage
  • Medical coverage - including coverage for emergency evacuation
  • Baggage loss protection

Below are recommendations for Quasar's Guests as well as a list of companies you might want to research before purchasing your Galapagos trip insurance:

Medical Evacuation and Health Insurance
Quasar requires participants to be adequately covered by a Medical Evacuation and Health policy that covers aero-medical evacuation from Galapagos (at least $ 50,000 USD) as a result of a medical emergency during the expeditions, including emergencies related to pre-existing health conditions.

Cancellation & Interruption Insurance
Quasar strongly urges participants to purchase insurance that adequately covers all eventualities (a good policy also may include Medical Evacuation and Health Insurance) or Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel insurance.

A good cancellation policy will include medical evacuation insurance.

Protection Plans
By committing to one of our Safari-Style Yacht Adventures, you’re making an investment. Through our partners at USI Travel Insurance services, you can book one of their travel protection plans (the InterMedical Plan is the most popular) designed for our Guests if you’d like to protect your costs and yourself. The plans may include coverage for your non-refundable expenses in case your trip is cancelled or interrupted, baggage coverage for lost or delayed baggage, and emergency medical coverage – including medical evacuation coverage – should some sort of emergency or accident occur on the trip.

To be eligible for the Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver, Bankruptcy/Default and Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) you must insure 100% of pre-paid, non-refundable travel arrangements you indicate when enrolling in Tour Protection Plan for USA residents (air, land and sea trip costs), you must purchase the insurance within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment, and be medically able to travel on the effective date. Other plans or policies can be purchased up to 24 hours prior to trip departure.
