- Cagliero Glacier Ice Trekking
This trekking tour on the Cagliero glacier will take you on a full-day trip to Los Huemules Reserve, one of the most beautiful areas of El Chalten. The entrance of Los Huemules reserve, where we will begin our trek, is located about 10 miles from El Chalten town. During the first part of the trek, we will be walking through the native forest of Lenga, on a footpath away from the busier trails. For the unique and exciting part of this activity, the journey on the Vía Ferrata is perhaps a trip it itself. Vía Ferrata, a sector of rocks prepared with artificial steps and steel cables. At the end of the Vía, you will reach the viewpoint that allows you to see the Southern Cagliero Glacier that descends between the Neumayer, Cagliero and Loma del Diablo range. After the beautiful vista the time has come to put on the crampons to start a 3 hour trek on the Cagliero glacier. At the end of the ice trek we’ll head to the domes of Vivac Cagliero to enjoy a hot beverage and unique moments of shared contemplation of this unexplored corner of Patagonia.
