The earliest navigational charts of the New World sometimes labeled Patagonia with the Latin legend 'regio gigantum', Region of Giants. A recount of one of the few survivors of Ferdinand Magellan's expedition of 1520 reported on this return, that the region was inhabited by giants. He called the natives "Patagons", thereby bestowing the name upon the far southern reaches of the Americas.
Located at the southern end of South America, Patagonia is a territory shared by the countries of Chile and Argentina. It covers an area of around 300,000 sq. mi. (777,000 sq. km.), including some islands of Argentinean Antartica and the South Atlantic, as well as the popular territory of Tierra del Fuego, found on the southernmost tip of the continent. This region is one of the least populated in the world, having approximately 1.5 people per sq. km.
Today, one species holds the key to protecting and preserving our world. We are that species.
It is difficult to understand why someone like Charles Darwin, an experience dtraveler and adventurer who had explored the world on several occasions, suddenly became mesermized by the puere vastness of Patagonia. Had it been the wildlife, the strange natives or the colossal natural wonders that captured his imagination?
A journey through this region of dramatic landscapes and a momumental geological past, will allow us to experience Patagonia as Charles Darwin once did, and appreciate the true fragility and natural importance of this region to the world.
Join our efforts on a simple mission to reforest this wild region.
As with many wild and beautiful places that have become the focal point of attention for travelers from around the globe, Patagonia's natural beauty is constantly at oods with invasive and unregulated tourism, poor waste management, man-made fires, introduced species and deforestation for cattle farming.
Quasar Expeditions understands these issues and actively looks for long-term solutions, through key partnerships like this one with Free World United.
Free World United (FWU), an apparel company born in the Galapagos Islands, is committed to social responsibility and focused on the sustainability of the Earth’s most unlikely places.
FWU offers Cause Shops, an apparel-based fundraising campaign tool for non-profits. In 2015, FWU partnered with Reforest Patagonia to help protect, preserve and restore Patagonia. Although FWU’s goal is to help non-profits, they have already partnered with several companies in the adventure travel industry to help raise funds for Patagonia and other destinations such as Galapagos. In light of this, FWU created Cause Shops for businesses. This model was tested with Quasar Expeditions and has had great success.
I would like to invite you all to become ambassadors for Patagonia by signing up for a NO-COST Cause Shop and join others such as Jeep, AdventureSmith Explorations, Patagonia Safaris, amongst others.
Free World United has exceeded our expectations as a partner in promoting our work. Their product is terrific, their website is engaging and easy to use, and their customer service is top notch. Our first campaign quickly raised $3,300 with very little effort on our part. We look forward to a long and productive partnership with Free World United.
Over three-fourths of the animals in Patagonia are endemic to the region.

People care. That’s a fact. We care about others. We care about the environment. We care about animals. Caring is not the issue. The issue is doing something about it. So, why aren’t we doing everything in our power to change the world for the better?
The answer to this question lies in how we choose to live our day-to-day lives and the time we dedicate to family, friends and our jobs. Most of us simply don't have the time and resources to focus on protecting and conserving our world despite our desire to do so. This has created a gap.
FWU’s business model, products and our lifestyle were embraced to fill this gap.
One step together in the right direction is worth a thousand leaps alone.
A better world starts here.
