THE CHAPEL OF MAN (4 HOURS)

The “Chapel of Man”, is a must-see for those interested in modern Ecuadorian Art. This unique complex was conceived by the iconic and world-famous Ecuadorian painter, Oswaldo Guayasamín, as a special homage to the human being, labeled for this purpose as “man”. This one-of-a-kind Museum has become a reality after receiving support from UNESCO in 1989.

Throughout the museum’s 3,600 square meters (38,750 square feet), visitors can admire Master Guayasamín’s many paintings and sculptures which depict the gamut of human emotion: grieving, pain, happiness, dreams and courage experienced by the peoples of Latin America. Here, Guayasamín accomplished his dream to expose, through magnificent and emotionally driven art, thenever-ending flame and undying spirit of freedom, peace and higher values of mankind.

THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD WITH THE INTIÑAN MUSEUM (4 HOURS)

Approximately 40 minutes north of Quito, the Equatorial Line crosses Ecuador and marks the Earth’s Latitude Zero. A commemorative Monument marks the historic expedition of the French Geodesic Mission in the 18th century that determined the Earth’s measures. The Inti-Ñan Museum is located right at the Equator Line and offers an immersive and fun-filled interactive experience of the influence that this geodesic landmark of our planet has on a local and global scale. Additionally, Intiñan Museum includes fascinating representations that depict the daily life of the peoples of the Amazon Rainforestas well as the Andean cultures.

QUITO FROM THE SKY (CABLEWAY) 4 HOURS

Quito’s Cableway, called the “Teleférico” loads new passengers at 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level. In just 10 minutes the gondolas rise from the valley to 4,050 meters (13,284 feet) for a spectacular view of the city from high above on the mid- foothills of the Pichincha Volcano. At the top, passengers feel as if they could reach the summit of the Pichincha Volcano (4784 m) and can also obtain breathtaking views of the famed Avenue of the Volcanoes including several of the snow-covered colossus’ such as Cotopaxi (5897m), Antisana (5752m) and Cayambe (5790m). The cableway operates from 10:00to 19:00 Monday to Thursday, and from 09:00 to 22:00 Friday to Sunday.

Then we continue the tour for an Experiential Visit to the outstanding Archaeological and Art Museum “Casa del Alabado”.

This Pre-Columbian Museum boasts a collection of 400 pieces dating backto 4000 years ago, hidden on a beautifully restored colonial residence in the heart of Quito’s Historic Center. The museum exposes through experiential visits the daily life of several of the remarkable Pre-Columbian cultures that inhabited the present territory of Ecuador. The exhibits focus on the fascinating cosmos vision of these ancient cultures centered on the integration of three differentand interacting worlds: The Underworld, The Middle World and the Supra world. The Axis Mundi is a mystical world of magic and wisdom that connects the three worlds through the knowledge of the Shamans. While watching varied objects from these ancient cultures, guests will learn fantastic facts about them and experience a host of hands-on activities of the ancestral times in the history of Ecuador.
