ECUADOR & THE GALAPAGOS NATIONAL PARK

  2. 2.   Is Ecuador open for International Tourism? Yes. Ecuador approved resumption of commercial flight operations on June 1, 2020
  3. 3.    What are the entry and exit requirements?
    1. 1. ECUADOR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
      • • As of October 20, 2022, the following entry requirements apply for travel to Ecuador:
        • ◦ International travelers are no longer required to present COVID-19 vaccination cards or proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering Ecuador.
        • ◦ We highly recommend that all guests take a pre-departure COVID-19 test within five days of the start of your expedition. We also continue to recommend that you follow all CDC travel guidelines including masking and social distancing prior to joining the group.
    2. 2. Passengers that present symptoms of COVID-19 will be evaluated by Ministry of Health personnel. In the event a traveler receives a positive RT-PCR test result while in mainland Ecuador, they will be required to isolate in a hotel for at least 5 days at their own expense until they test negative. Though Quasar can assist with arrangements in the event of a quarantine or additional testing, all additional expenses during quarantine are the responsibility of the guest.
    3. 3. SPECIAL, ADDITIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS:
      • • As of October 20, 2022, the following entry requirements apply for travel to the Galapagos:
        • ◦ Travelers are no longer required to present COVID-19 vaccination cards or proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering Galapagos or boarding Quasar yachts.
        • ◦ If you have been exposed to a confirmed positive person within 5 days of embarkation or if you are symptomatic, you will be tested via rapid antigen. If negative, you may board but should continue to monitor for symptoms.
        • ◦ If you test positive at any moment during your cruise, you (and any cabin companions) will be isolated in your cabin. Our crew will deliver food and supplies as necessary. You will not be permitted to leave the isolation cabin.
    4. 4. Though Quasar can assist with arrangements in the event of a quarantine or additional testing, all additional expenses during quarantine are the responsibility of the traveler.
    5. 5. All travelers must fill and sign a Traveler’s Health Declaration Form, which will be given to them by the airline and a Special Migratory Form through which they agree to abide by the provisions established by the authorities upon entering Ecuador.
    1. 1. RT-PCR or rapid Antigen Tests can be taken in Quito or Guayaquil via a third-party provider (without a medical prescription)
      • • Test appointments should be made well in advance, especially during holidays, which Quasar can assist you with.
    2. 2. RT-PCR or rapid Antigen Tests in Quito & Guayaquil
      • • Personnel taking PCR tests will come to your hotel to perform the tests between 7h30 and 21h30 (7:30 am and 9:30 pm) Monday thru Sunday. Additional charges may apply.
      • • The cost of the RT-PCR or rapid Antigen test is of around US$ $75 per person and should be paid on spot using any major credit card directly to the company administering the test.
      • • Result for the RT-PCR test are sent by email and can take anywhere from 24-48 hours (although 24 hours is usually obtained). Remember to print out your results and bring them with you to the airport.
      • • Result for the rapid Antigen test are sent by email and can take anywhere from 45-60 mins. Remember to print out your results and bring them with you to the airport.
      • • The third-party provider is a lab certified by the Ecuadorian government (tests are not valid unless the lab is certified).
    3. 3. Because Quasar is not a medical company and must direct guests to a third-party testing company, it is not liable if the RT-PCR or rapid Antigen testing company fails to return results in the time frame mentioned above. Furthermore, any agreement or contract entered directly by and between you and any third party contractor shall be exclusively between such parties and as such, Quasar is relieved and held harmless from any refunds due to missed part(s) of the itinerary and damages whether financial, personal or to property resulting from such contractual obligations.
    • • Individuals who do not obey rules and regulations regarding quarantine requirements, mask-wearing, and curfew may be subject to fines.
    1. 1. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced a new Order requiring all persons aged two and above to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the United States, is rescinded. Starting on June 12, 2022, the CDC will no longer order air passengers to show a negative COVID-19 test result, or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19, prior to boarding a flight to the United States. CDC’s Order requiring proof of vaccination for non-U.S. citizen nonimmigrants to travel to the United States is still in effect.
    2. 2. Because Quasar is not a medical company and must direct guests to a third-party testing company, it is not liable if the PCR or Antigen testing company fails to return results in the time frame mentioned by the medical company. Furthermore, any agreement or contract entered directly by and between you and any third party contractor shall be exclusively between such parties and as such, Quasar is relieved and held harmless from any refunds due to missed part(s) of the itinerary and damages whether financial, personal or to property resulting from such contractual obligations.

CHILE & PATAGONIA

  2. 2.   Is Chile open for International Tourism?

    Yes. it is open to international travel.
  3. 3.   What are the entry and exit requirements as of May 1, 2022?
    1. The current requirements for traveling to Chile are:

      • • All arriving guests must be fully vaccinated.

      • • Masks are no longer required in open spaces. Masks are required in closed environments.

      • • It is suggested you obtain a PCR test 72 hours before departing for Chile.

      • Valid Mobility Pass: This is a permit which is granted only to international travelers who show valid proof of vaccination and must be obtained prior to traveling via the national vaccine validation system of Chile mevacuno.gob.cl It is important to apply for this pass 50 days in advance of your departure date to Chile, since requests are taking an average of 14-30 days to be processed. Proof of vaccination must be for vaccines approved by the Chilean Public Health Institute (ISP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

      • • Fill out the Traveler’s Sworn Statement electronically, up to 48 hours before boarding at www.c19.cl

      • • Travel Insurance that covers covid-related illness and medical expenses associated with COVID-19 during your stay, required minimum coverage of USD$30,000 per person. Bring your policy with you as proof of coverage.

      • Negative PCR test / Antigen Upon Arrival: a PCR test or Antigen test will be administered when you arrive in Santiago Chile (SCL)Airport. Testing is being conducted at random and you do not get to choose which test is administered. You may also end up not being chosen to be tested. If you do receive an Antigen test you must wait at the airport for the results. Results take 20 minutes to receive on average. If you receive the PCR test, you can continue with your day but must complete the “Health Check” form sent to your email during your trip. No quarantine is required, unless you test positive.

        • ◦ As of May 1, if you wish to enter as a tourist and you are from Venezuela, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Dominica, prior to your arrival in Chile, you must have a Temporary Stay Visa. Australians are required to have a visa for entry now too. Verify if you require a Visa or Reciprocity Fee for your specific itinerary, with your local consulate or on Visa websites such as VisaCentral. Visa requirements are based on your passport origin. Requirements can change at any time. These requirements need to be verified by you with your airline before your travel.
